Dear Friends,
Welcome or welcome back to Ready, Steady, Go! Join along as we strive to nourish and enhance our personal, interpersonal, community, and global health. We post super easy action items each week that lead us in the direction of optimizing our well-being and resilience.
I want to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to Meena Nair, MPH, MS, RN as the team lead for Ready, Steady, Go! Meena was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She has worked in primary care for the last 5 years. Trained in public health, she is passionate about the overlap between health, wealth, and education from a sociocultural context.
July was our Summer Reading month! Reading is an opportunity to step away from our usual and routine duties to enter a world of our own choosing, an indulgence in freedom! When we read, we can actively be present in another’s story, while simultaneously activating our own imaginations. Reading can be healing, relaxing, and educational. Not to worry if you missed our gentle and friendly nudges to bury your nose in a book, here they are:
Reading is Fun!
Read for Pleasure: Pick up or listen to a book for fun (fiction, prose, poetry, comic, etc) in true escapism fashion!
Choose a Book Buddy: Tell someone about what you are reading and ask about what they are reading.
Talk About Books: Share with our community what you’ve been reading and how spending some time with a book is shaping your summer.
Keep Libraries Alive: Connect with and explore a global institution of knowledge and cultural preservation – your local library!
In August we will focus on relationships with animals. Our nudge this week is to simply reflect on the benefits of Living with Animals.

May your Summer of Bicycling Begin! May is National Bike Month in the USA and June 3rd is World Bicycle Day. Summer has just begun. Beyond Holitic encourages you to get out on your bicyle as much as possible this summer, whether it is to commute to work, pickup something from a store, go visit a friend, take a short or long leisurely ride in a natural setting, or just tool about town. |
Get Your Very Own Library Card This week´s action item is to visit your local library and get yourself a library card. Because books are amazing and reading is fun. And fun is great for your sense of well being. |
